Discovering Taormina

Day 1: ARRIVAL TAORMINA

Upon your arrival in Sicily reach the hotel on your own and check in (transfer from Catania airport or train station available as an optional extra). Enjoy free time to explore the city. Get lost in the beautiful scenario of the old town of Taormina or enjoy the most beautiful beaches. Don’t miss the Taormina Cathedral, one of the most famous monuments, Piazza IX Aprile, the ideal destination for admiring the untouched blue around the coast and Villa Comunale, perfect for relaxing with its large gardens.

Day 2: TAORMINA – ETNA – TAORMINA

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning tour to discover the magnificent Sicilian volcano, Mount Etna. Enjoy an excursion to Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe and a UNESCO site since 2013. Leave with your tour guide on board a comfortable coach and reach Rifugio Sapienza at 1.900 meters on the south side of the volcano. After a technical stop, ascent by cable car up to 2,500 meters and continuing on board jeep up to the authorized crater zones at approximately 2,900 meters with the assistance of licensed Guides of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) who will escort you for soft trekking. Stop to admire the eventual activity of the summit craters in a safety zone according to weather conditions (Warm clothing and suitable shoes are recommended and can be rented on-site. The ascents to Etna’s authorized crater areas are always escorted by guides of the Italian Alpine Club, who are responsible for the safety of the travellers and are subordinated to the decisions of the relevant authorities about the changes in volcanic activity that affect the altitude reached).

Day 3: TAORMINA: BOAT TOUR

Day 4: DEPARTURE TAORMINA

Enjoy your last breakfast in Taormina and if time permits take the last walk to say “arrivederci” to the city or do some shopping. Transfer to the airport or train station is available as an optional extra.

Comfortable and light clothing is the most suitable for travelling in Italy. We recommend bringing warm clothing and suitable shoes for trekking. Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts, or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings. Sun protection, sunglasses, a hat, and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.
