TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
Naranjo de Alajuela: Laying in the outskirts of the mountainous central valley, you will be immersed in a unique Lodge with breath-taking views of Poas, Barva and Irazu Volcanoes, as well as the Central Valley and the Nicoya Gulf in the Pacific Ocean seen on clear days. Surrounded by coffee fields, green pastures, and a rich agricultural environment, the area depicts the best of a simple yet enriching Costa Rican tradition.
Day 1: ARRIVAL SAN JOSE – NARANJO (30km – 30min)
After landing at Juan Santamaria Airport, a representative will guide you to the transfer to the lodge (Pick-up can be also arranged from hotels in San Jose). Arrive in the lodge at Naranjo. Get comfortable at your room inspired by the rich coffee culture of the region. Enjoy free time to relax and admire the beautiful surroundings.

Day 2: NARANJO
Wake up to a tasty breakfast at the lodge. Around 9:00 a.m. a new adventure awaits you. Let’s discover Naranjo, a small town sheltering some of Costa Rica´s best coffee plantations. Over two hundred years of coffee cultivation, have marked Naranjo as a mecca in the production of some of the finest coffees of the world, achieving several world awards for its quality. Our first stop will be at the Espiritu Santo Coffee Tour; during an hour and a half, we will learn all the secrets of why this famous drink has taken the world over. We will be able to learn about all coffee stages, from the seed to the cup. The visit takes place in farm own by the local cooperative of coffee growers, where a coffee landscaping of rolling hills make a unique scenery. After our coffee tour, we will continue to the Municipal Market, where vegetables, fruits, meats and other products are for sale for the local inhabitants to buy them always fresh. Our guide will tell us about the different fruits and explain how they are used in local homes. We will have lunch in one the eateries of the market (included). After lunch we will visit the local church, the Basilica Nuestra Señora de las Piedades, rebuilt after several earthquakes in the 1940s. On our way back to the lodge, we will stop at a local bakery to buy some bread and continue for a coffee at don Carlos´s farm, as we enjoy a fresh cup of coffee in his private home (included). Day 3: NARANJO – DEPARTURE SAN JOSE (30km – 30min)
Wake up to one last breakfast at the lodge. At the agreed time, pick-up at the lodge to transfer you to your next destination, either Juan Santamaria Airport or your hotel in San Jose.
Comfortable and light and quick dry clothing is the most suitable for travelling. Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings. Sun protection, sunglasses, tennis shoes, hiking shoes, sandals, raincoat or jacket, bathing suit, a hat or cap and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.
